Katun river |
Katun
River and First 50 km of Chuysky Trakt (from Gorno-Altaysk).
The most "civilised" part of Altay with well-developed
infrastructure. Great for making a rafting trip or taking
a vacation on a
tour base.
Activities: rafting, trekking,
short sightseeing tours, swimming, fishing, bungee-jumping
Travel Time: 4 hours from Barnaul, recommended
to spend at least 1 day.

Chuysky Trakt
The main highway between Russia and Mongolia is very picturesque
and has a lot of interesting places of interest along the
way.
Activities: ancient carvings, trekking
on glaciers, mountains, swimming, meeting local people,
snowboarding, alpinism, visiting ancient tombs, and salted
lakes
Travel Time: 6 to 12 hours from Barnaul,
recommended to spend at least 5 days.

Aktru Glacier
A remote area, yet easily accessible by car along Chuysky Trakt.
Great for putting a base and making short 1-day walks up the
mountains.
Activities: walking, trekking, alpinism, snowboarding, swimming,

at least 3 days

Beluha Mountain
The highest mountain in Siberia and the area surrounded by
legends. Good for a few days trekking walk.
