Gay
Clubs in Moscow
There are
only a few gay clubs in Moscow and majority of
them are not that good. However, there are a few that can make
a nice night out, and they are listed below. You should also
try Propaganda on
Sundays when it hosts China-Town gay parties. If strictly sex
is what you are after, head to Voda sauna or Samovolka club
listed below. Lesbians will enjoy 12 Volt and PinkFly clubs.
12 Volt. This is one of the best-known gay
and lesbian clubs and it has a convenient central location. Although a small
venue,
it
has
a decent dance
floor, regular DJs and different themed nights. Open seven nights
a week, entry is free and a club card gives discounts on the
bar and food.
Address: Tverskaya Ulitsa,
#12 - Bldg. 2, metro Tverskaya. View

Tri
Obezany. One of Moscow’s oldest
gay clubs, this is another popular place which has been running
for
more than a decade.
Reopened
in 2004, the club now boasts three levels and three bars. Outrageous
stage shows featuring transvestites play at several times each
night. Otherwise DJs spin a mix of eclectic, upbeat and danceable
music together with the old Soviet hits.
Address: Nastavnichesky Per.,
#11, Bldg. 1, metro Kurskaya, Chkalovskaya.

from 7pm-7am. Small cover charge applies for late-night entry
on Fridays and
Saturday.
PinkFly. This is the club
for women who prefer to relax without the presence of men. It has a female
striptease, transvestite
shows and a
system for introductions for those too shy for the direct approach.
DJs play all varieties of popular music. The address of this
club used to be kept secret – people interested in going
had to call or email for details. Entry is still only allowed
with a club card that can be purchased at the club.
Address: Povarskaya Ulitsa,
#33 (inside the club “Malenkie
Istorii”), metro: Barrikadnaya. View

rubles.
Samovolka. A raunchy
club only for men, it features male stripteases and a downstairs sauna. Although
built in a wine cellar, there
is
nothing sedate about the atmosphere. There is a “crazy
menu” which promises to fulfill any fantasy, dark, private
rooms and a different transvestite show every night. Drinks are
quite cheap with beer at 70 rubles and spirits just over 100
rubles.
Address: Novaya Basmannaya
Ulitsa, #6, Bldg. 2, metro Komsomolskaya (under railway bridge),
Tel. (495) 261-7844, Website: www.samvolka.gayly.ru. Open daily
from
8pm. No cover charge for men under 22, 150-200 rubles for other
men and 300r for women.
Voda Gay Sauna. Claims
to be the first (and, perhaps, the only) European gay sauna in
Moscow. There are
Turkish and Finnish saunas, "dark room", labyrinth,
gym, and lots of relaxation areas where you can enjoy a drink
while watching hard-core gay porn. The sauna itself is quite
clean and well-looked after, a towel and individual key locker
is provided. The entrance is 200R ($7) for men under 24, 250R
($9) for men 25-32, and 300R ($11) for 33+. As you can see, the
younger men are in great demand here :-)
