Can I enter and exit on the same day? The "Request Visa Support" wont let me type these dates in

I am traveling through Russia. I am staying for 13 hours on my way and 9 hours on my way back. I need to get a visa to leave the airport for the day. On the registration form, I get an error message saying that I can't do that because "the date of your exit is earlier than your date of entry, please correct this...

What should I do?

Why don't you just put a bigger time span – you can travel any time within the time span you specified. Also, you could get a transit visa just by showing your tickets / reservations to the consulate. You don't need an invitation for that.
