How can I get from London to St Petersburg, and is there somewhere that would book the tickets for me?

My friend and I would like to travel from London to St Petersburg by rail. The impression I have is that it's complex to arrange, so if there's an agency that could book all the tickets, that would be great.

No, it's pretty simple and the cheapest way is to book the tickets yourself.

You would need to go from London to Brussels or Paris with Eurostar then change for the train to Berlin / Warsaw, then go up to Riga (Latvia) or Tallin (Estonia) and change for Riga / Tallin - St Petersburg train. You should be able to buy those tickets on http://trains.waytorussia.net - just make a request for the last leg of your journey Riga - St Petersburg or Tallin - St Petersburg and then ask the train company to buy the rest of the tickets for you.
