|
|
I'm planning to visit Russia and Egypt on the same trip, and will be staying in Russia about 5 days both on the way to Egypt and on the way back from it. Obviously I need a double entry tourist visa. I notice on this site that visa support is for single or double entry, however I have seen elsewhere that tourist visas are not so good for double entry. My Lonely Planet says it is important that the invitation state that I need a double entry visa.
My questions:
What have been other people's experience obtaining double entry tourist visas? Through this site?
Any other recommendations regarding this? I plan to get the visa started this week and to go to russia at the end of August- about two months away.
Thanks! This site has been great so far. |

| With a double entry TOURIST visa you can only leave to CIS countries, not to Egypt. So, you must get a double entry BUSINESS visa. |

I called the Russian Consulate in New York City about this question. They said that a double entry tourist visa is good for two entries, regardless of what country you are coming from both times. Also, I seen no mention of a restriction on any US Russian Consulate websites.
Do any other users have personal experience with this? |

I don't have personal experience with this yet, as I didn't want to have my friends risking and leaving Russia to a non-CIS country to test if it's going to work.
But that's what I was told in a few visa support companies here in Moscow. They said that with a double-entry TOURIST visa you can leave only to CIS and Baltic states, not to Finland, for example.
The Russian consulates may have one sort of info, but in the end you're going to deal with the passport control, which is a completely different organization. So, I would recommend you to follow their rules. |
