Any thoughts? |

I'm thinking......money. Lots of it. Plenty of dengi.
St. Pete jacks prices sky high for everything during white nights. Good idea to make hotel reservations, ummm, now. |

Are we talking about Dengi Fever? Mosquitoes?
Is it just a crazy tourist trap type of thing or is it more of a locals vacation?
Any recommendations for booking accommodation from abroad? |

Sorry, wasn't thinking.....'dengi' is Russian for money.
White nights are a beautiful time of year in Russia, and St. Petersburg attracts a lot of tourists at that time. It's the highest of high season. Russia has a woefully underdeveloped tourist infrastructure, so there is a shortage of available rooms during that time and all the hotels raise their prices to ridiculous rates.
Good luck, maybe someone else here can help you with hotel suggestions. But you seriously want to book soon for white nights. |

Thank you again for the great advice!
I was wondering about locals renting rooms as opposed to a hotel, any idea if this is possible or where I might look? |

| I think that you'll find White Nights are in June, not July? |

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they stretch into July.
But June is the main time, yes. |

Yes, this period is the peak of the White Nights. But they start even earlier, at the middle of May and stretch to the end of July. |
