Surviving Moscow knowing no Russian at all

My wife and I will only be in Moscow for a short stay of 3 days /2 nights and we currently don't speak or read any Russian at all. This trip was unforseen as it is a competition prize I managed to win.
On the whole day we are there we will be having a Day Tour of Moscow so I expect we'll be looked after most of the time by English speaking guides. During the other periods of our short stay will we be very likely to encounter many people who will understand English?
I appreciate we will need to make an effort with the language, and we will do our best, but I am wondering if we'll need to do a lot of homework in that respect before we go?
Any advice would be most welcome.

Russian language is quite hard to learn for englishspeaking people.
But in Moscow a lot of native people can speak english? try to speak to young people, they probably could speak english it`s normal in Moscow/

Please contact me via e-mail or private: I can help you with all arrangements and services in Moscow. I guess it would me much easier if you walk around the city with a personal guide. It won't cost much.

Just to thank the two people who have posted replies to my language barrier query. I will make an attempt to ask any questions I may have to the younger locals, as per one replies' advice.
As to the other I received about a personal guide; I hadn't considered that option, not knowing it was available, but if I choose that avenue I will make contact with you.
Thanks again.

3 years ago, my wife and I spent 3+ weeks in Moscow. We hardly ran into anybody who spoke good English, but we survived. We learned a bunch of basic Russian before we went and we made it through. We kind of fumbled our way through the language difference and it was actually kind of fun (and funny). Get familiar with cyrillic if you plan on using the Metro. It's not too bad if you can read a little. We traveled throughout Moscow for 3+ weeks knowing little Russian. Bring a translation book with you.

Thanks for the advice. Our stay in Moscow is going to be much shorter than yours but I will take your comments on board and add them to the advice already received.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Maybe, but most of them are more likely to work some (9-19)*(5/7). I do believe that such correlation between language proficiency and (un)employment exists.
