I have rented an apartment in Moscow for a week but the apartment owner wants $40 per person to register our visas. We already registered them in Irkutsk when we arrived in Russia but unfortunately did not know then to register for the whole period of our stay so need to re-register.
Is there any way to register more cheaply - its $160 for the four of us. It seems the new visa arrangements are an opportunity for the landlord to charge what they want with no option not to pay.
I have read about finding a cheap hotel but that will take a big chunk out of our time in Moscow to find one, go there to leave and collect our visas etc, that we were hoping to use for sightseeing.
Many thanks
