I noticed that some post have been deleted on this forum which were not bad due to some personal conflicts, please do me a favor and get rid of the dating test ad (angelica-7) in the "jobs and lessons" thread on this forum. This is not a dating site. If other post on this forum is going to be deleted for no reason then get rid of the dating ad in that thread. Lets be fair.

Had that post been an ad promoting a dating site, one of the mods would have nuked it. It is actually, though, a "job" opportunity for English men living in Moscow. It seems like a legit post and might be of interest to some in the community. I thought to err on the side of leaving the post up as it seemed to have relevant content for the sub-board in which it was posted. I'm curious as to what others think on this issue?

We all try to keep threads on topic and if a thread starts getting personal, we'll either lock the thread (if there is useful content) or nuke the offending posters.

Also, please know that the mods are all volunteers and some stuff is going to slip past us. I try to browse the new posts every few days and have found the bulk of my mod duties include nuking the posts that offer cell phones, viagra, etc. The personality conflicts, thankfully, seem to be far and few between.

Yeah, it looks to me like a backdoor invite to a *dating* service. In Russia there is only one kind of 'dating service'....... Silenced

I disagree, it is a dating service. Get rid of it. I don't think this forum is being fair to Spicey. He did not say anything out of the ordinary. Other people on this forum have been saying worse these days and no one deletes their post. I do get tired of the F word on this site. Stop deleting Spicey's post, it is unfair. The personal conflicts are unfair and no they are not far and few between. Get rid of Angelika's post. There should not be any advertising of any job for a dating service. To me it sounds like they want to hire gigolo's or a male call service. That is my thought on it.

Looking at the post in question, I would give it the benefit of doubt. Nothing in it directly suggests anything untoward and the questionnaire that accompanies it is consistent with the posts content. In any case the survey period has passed so the subject is redundant.

On the other matter raised by jojo I can only say that if a banned user posts, then their posts are deleted by whichever mod spots them first. This is consistent with the wishes of the admin and maintains the integrity of the forum. There have been several banned users posting recently and their posts have been routinely removed.

Frankly jojo I am surprised to see you back here making capricious demands after insulting two moderators and making a rather tawdry and flamoyant farewell not that long ago.

If I have insulted anyone on this forum it is due to the insults that was given to me, frankly Nikir you have been the most insulting person on this forum before you became a moderator, you should have been banned long time ago especially when you insulted some of the new female users who just joined this forum in the past, but you are informative when questions are asked and this is what keeps you here and I believe the insults you dish out are ignored. Spicey was only suppose to be banned 1 month along with a few others and it seems like it has been permanent even when Spicey has given good advice to some questions that users have asked about Russia on these threads. Some users have complained that the posted were deleted and they wanted that information. This forum can be really unfair to some and not to others. There way too much cursing in some threads, insults have been flying on each other, but not one mod has intervened lately to ask for them to stop.

Speaking of integrity, that post in the jobs & lessons thread, sorry it is a advertisement to hire men for a dating service. It should be deleted. I have only suggested for it to be deleted and it should be.

ok, deleted.

life isn't fair. moderation of boards (any board, not just this board) isn't fair either. i can't speak for the other mods, but I really don't have the time or energy to try to figure out who is right in an online spat. the board (this board) imho has gotten a lot better in recent months - moving its way back to its charter. which is good, i think.

jo jo, have you visited russia yet? please do share your stories (or plans). it would be loads helpful to folks that are considering the same type of trip.

i'm going back for trip #7 in December. I'm going to do Red Square on New Years Eve - I may find that I froze my butt off and didn't have a good time, but I'm pretty excited about it. American has *great* prices on non-stop round trips from Chicago - $675. How cool is that?

Hey Danbrew,

Wow, you got a flight on AA for $675? I live in Chicago too... and the girlfriend and I just went to Russia for the first time two weeks ago! We had a great time, but our ORD-DME flight was like $1100 .. but the flight back was about half full, so maybe they are lowering the fares. How is your Russian? I have been taking Russian with a private tutor in Chicago and am doing ok -- but after our trip to Russia, I realize I need much more practice with actually speaking. Any suggestions for the Chicagoland area? I live in Ukrainian Village area. Hope to hear from you .. also, my email is bennettj45@hotmail.com

Just double-checked - $766, actually. But still, a steal.

My Russian is pretty limited - I keep thinking that I need to find a Russian girlfriend or go with Rosetta Stone software, but am a tad bit too lazy to do either...! In Moscow & St Pete, you can get by quite easily with English - it's when you trek across the Urals or take the train to Vladivostok that having Russian helps. I'm actually going to do just that - the train to Vladivostok - and will then fly from Vlad to SVO and then pick up my return American flight from DME. It'll be interesting, for sure.

Danny has the Russian GF by the hour LOL
One of these days, I will be over there for New Years, probably Ukraine. No visa hassle as in Russia, just hop on plane and go. Like Russia without the hassle.

Now you're talking. We oughta plan a New Year's Eve bash for all the WTR folks that keep talking about going but never go. Hmm. That would be interesting...

I have a good reason for not going to Russia right now. In the future I will share when I do go. I promise.
