This question is probably going to seem kind of stupid, but because this is my first time leaving the country, i want to make sure i have all the bases covered before it's too late. I recently received my Russian Tourist visa, and i have all of my documents ready to embark on my first trip to Russia. However, i was wondering about the transit visa, and if i would need it to go along with my tourist visa. I'll be flying from Chicago to London, from London to Moscow, and from Moscow to Kazan, but i read on the US department of state website that even if i land in Moscow to change planes, i need to have a transit visa with me or else i will be turned away and denied entry into the country. Can anyone confirm this? Even though i already have my tourist visa, is it necessary to also have a transit visa to show border control for when i'm changing planes in Moscow?

Every question that i've asked so far on this site has been answered, and i am extremely grateful. I hope someone is able to answer this for me as well. Thanks in advance.

A transit visa is for someone coming from outside of Russia and catching a connecting flight in Russia to a destination also outside of Russia. For eaxmple New York to Moscow to Mumbai (India). Your tourist visa is all you need.

Great. Thanks so much for the quick reply camarks. I'll be leaving on my first trip to Russia next month, and i couldn't be more excited. This is a great site, and it's one of the main reasons why i felt comfortable traveling to Russia. Thanks again.
