A friend and I are planning a trip to Russia in the summer and are then planning of inter-railing back through Europe. We plan to leave Russia by flying from Sheremetyevo to Riga, Latvia. The flight leaves sheremetyevo at 7.15am. As its so early we wouldn't be able to get a train or bus from Moscow to the airport on time. We wanted to know if we would be able to check into the flight and just hang around the airport through the night?

Any help would be appreciated!

There is now a train to Sheremyetovo.

First train leaving on work days is 5:45 AM. From Moscow Metro station Savyolovskaya on the northern grey line.

Or you can arrange for a taxi to pick you up early in in Moscow to go to the airport.

Nobody wants to spend the night at Sheremyetovo. Nobody.

Or you can take the more scenic route and go by train to Riga.

Very nicely equipped trains, overnight trip, leaving Moscow every day about 6 PM. About $120 for a berth in a 4 person koupe Moscow to Riga. Dining/bar car and lovely scenery on the way.

Way more fun than flying and if you're thinking of spending the night in SVO2, why not just spend it on the train instead? Much better deal.
