hi everyone!
i'm writing as i'm planning to take the trans sibernian next august and i'm in the process of getting the visas. now i'm confused as i'm argentinian and i've just read in many different places that we don't need a visa to russia anymore from june 29th. in the website of the russian consulate in argentina it says that we need a visa, but i dont know if it is because this new agreement starts in june 29th! and also the website doesnt seem to updated...i've been trying to call the embassy and consulate but...they only speak russian! where can i get some official information? is there an official list of countries that dont need a visa for russia? i heard venezuela is one of those... thanks for your help! ivana

An interesting problem!

Probably, you won't need a visa - I am guessing that June 29th is the date of implementation. But of course, I would want to make sure!

I have two ideas for confirmation:

[1] Write to the consular office. Even if the people who answer the phone speak only Russian, surely someone can answer your letter in Spanish (or maybe even English).

[2] Contact your country's own Ministry of Foreign Relations (or whatever Argentina calls is arm responsible for immigration). Because the visa-free agreement is reciprocal (works both ways), PROBABLY Argentine citizens can enter Russia visa-free on the same date that Russian citizens will be allowed to enter Argentina without a visa -- and the officials responsible for immigration, should know this date!

Good luck, and please post back when you have an answer!
