|
|
Hello,
After spending quite a few hours online, I am still a bit confused whether I need to register my visa. I arrive on a Thursday and depart on the following Monday AM. So, I am in the country (Moscow) for 2.5 BUSINESS days, but for 4.5 total days. I know I don't need to register if I am in Russia for less than 3 days; what I can't figure out is whether that refers to 3 business days or 3 regular days (including weekends).
I also know that I have 3 BUSINESS days to register, so if I am asked -- would not I be able to say in any case that my 3 business days to register are not up yet? Or would I have problems upon departure?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Julia |

So much depends on which state you live is, so make sure you do your homework on this one.
For U.S. Citizens (and Canadians) you can stay up to 30 days on a regular Tourist Visa.
You might want to check out: http://www.oneeasyvisa.com/country/russia
They have good explanation of the process and the required documents for a tourist visa.
My recommendation for a Russia visa is to probably go with a good third-party agency to get your visa for you. In this case, it's well worth the money. |

| Thanks much for the response, Meghan. I already have a visa to Russia, so that hurdle is over. I am looking to find out about REGISTERING my visa in Moscow and what the law says in my particular case of a rather short trip to Russia. I know exactly how to register the visa, I just don't want to do it if I don't have to. Thanks again. Julia |

You needn't worry about registration.
The "3 working days" don't include weekends, so you will be under the limit.
If you stay at a hotel, they can easily register your visa (not expensively), and I would do so anyway. Otherwise, don't bother. |
