Hi folks, I am going to St. Petersburg at the end of November where i am going to celebrate my 28th birthday Smile I know i know i am getting older don't mention it Smile
Well, the reason for me to go there is to visit a russian girl i've met couple of months ago in Turkey.
It's my first time there and i don't know where should i stay. Is the city center the best place to be?! Where i will be visiting her in Gatchina Town and we will spend a lot time in St. Petersburg. Should i rent an apartment or a hotel room?! And does hotels allow other than me to sleep over?! Or they have a strict policy regarding that!?
Thanks a lot Smile

In hotels the price often differs if it's single or double occupancy. But I recommend to book an apartment. For half the price of the hotel you'll have more comfort, internet or whatever facilities you like (own sauna...). And under 350 euros per night the service in a hotel is really shit, so you won't miss anything.
Most apartments available for short rents are in the very center. Avoid first floor, window over one of the noisiest avenues (Inc Nevsky of course), and of course rent only from companies that have a website offering several apartments, and with pictures (= no ad from independent people). Also prefer something close to the metro. google map is your friend (World Wind even more so but anyway...).
You'll find a plethora of companies via your favorite search engine, and those that seem reliable are reliable. The person who will give you the key of the apartment probably doesn't speak more than 10 words of english. Oh and he'll make you sign a contract that's in Russian. Don't be worried by these 2 points.
When you've made your choice you can post it here to ask us here if we've had experience with the company you chose.

If I may comment... Antalya's night clubs are not exactly the dream place to start a lifelong relationship, but good luck anyway.

Thanks a lot gaijin for your reply.
I have found couple of websites like

http://saint-petersburg-russia-apartments.com/index.php?flat&sublist=463

and

http://flatmates.ru

For the credit, i didn't meet the girl in one of Anatalya's night clubs. I met her next marmaris harbor whilst she was standing with 2 of her friends waiting for another friend. It was funny how we met but i'm glad.
You never know when you can find somebody or to be found by somebody in the journey of life. But thanks anyways Very Happy

Hi,

I don't know the sites you mentionned. I know this one is ok
www.saint-petersburg-apartments.com/
I have used another one that was also ok but I don't remember. The first you mentionned is most certainly ok. If they have what you are looking for, call them and go ahead. If you are worried I suggest you ask your girlfriend her feeling about it. Gachina isn't far (about an hour to the center of SPB), she could come and check if needed.

Good luck.
