Atomcat,
I don't think it's a good idea to go by air from St. Petersburg to Novgorod. You know, it's just 3 hours by train, it will take you longer to get to Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg and board the plane The best way is to go to Moskovsky railway station in SPB, they have trains in the morning and afternoon (Very comfortable), see schedules at http://waytorussia.net/Transport/
I don't think there's a direct connection between Novgorod and Yoshkar Ola. I guess it will be better to get to Moscow first and then go to Yoshkar Ola from there. For train schedules, see http://trainline.ru or http://poezda.net |

| I did the St-P -> Novgorod -> Moscow thing, and if I were to change it I'd of chosen more time in St P or to instead go to Pskov. I really didn't like Novgorod, I found it a waste of time for me. |

Along similar lines to the previous question:
We have a party of 5 travelling from Moscow to St Petersburg in November.
We would like to travel on the train #28 at 21.30 from Oktyabrsky station.
Is it possible to book 3 1st class carriages on his train, so that we will be able to travel together?
Can I do this by just booking 6 tickets, between the 5 of us?
I would be grateful for your advice about this.
