Hello I'm Gert from Belgium. I'm new here on this talk lounge. End of february i visit Moskou for the first time. I already received a lot of usefull information of this website. When i go to Moskou i like me to buy some leather jackets. Can anybody give me an adress of store or supermarket where russian people buy there jackets?

You might want to try the large open markets at Izmailovsky Park (nearest metro station bears the same name - on the blue line, look up the metro map at http://www.moscow-guide.ru/transport/mmap.gif ).

Like most capital cities, the shops are not always cheaper than those found in other towns and urban centres Wink

I'm going to Moscow in a couple of weeks. I'd like to buy a men's furlined coat (I live in the Windy City...Chicago) maybe even used would be fine. Can you find something like that at the Isamilovsky Vernisazh in March, or are there better places to buy used fur stuff? Where are the markets for us common people in Moscow...sort of like the Apraksin Market in SPB?

I think you're crazy if you want to buy leather goods here of any kind. Clothes in particular (especially anything imported) are quite expensive. I highly doubt there are any quality Russian made leather jackets, and the imported ones will be much more expensive than anywhere else.

If you go to places like outdoor rynoks to buy clothes or get a discount, then expect that the goods will be cheap Chinese fakes. Nothing expensive and of good quality is sold at outdoor markets.

If you're looking for leather goods, you're much better off going to someplace like Turkey, or Florence, Italy, or wherever, but most definitely not Moscow.
