I'm going to Moscow to meet my wife's mother for first time.
What gift should I bring for her?
Also, is there anything particularly difficult to get in Russia that I could bring with me from America? I live in New York City, and as I understand, in Moscow, you can have everything you want.
But I want to bring something special for them that will make her happy.
Do Russians like any kind of gifts from America? Books? or some popular American clothing like Gap Jeans, or Victoria Secrets? Raulph Lauren or Polo? |

Hi! Well, although i am not a mother-in-law and i cant really KNOW what could possibly please women of this category, i could still try to answer ur question. I am Russian, but after marriage i am staying in India. And my husband is in the US right now.. so what I asked him to bring is a breadmaker ) Ofcourse in Russia there's no problem in buying a loaf of bread or even baking one at home, but i think that the bread baked in this machine comes out really tasty! Again, maybe its an absolutely silly idea... it depends a lot on a person, u see..
As U said, there's nothing u cant get in Moscow these days..
Its not too safe to bring clothes, cos its too individual, and tastes differ.
I would rather think of some gadgets for the house...
My Indian mother-in-law is always sooo happy with all sorts of perfume, cosmetic items, or, say, handbags and purses. Maybe mothers-in-law are not all that different after all? : ) |
