It's really beautiful, I've been to the Catherine Palace twice on my three visits to St. Petersburg and it's still one of the highlights of the city.

I just returned from S-P two days ago. While I was there my fiancee told me that she heard on the news that the Amber Room was "closed"- she said the visitors and "flash" cameras were to blame, but that "they" didn't know how to solve the problem.
I cannot independently confirm this information, but I thought you should know so that you are not dissapointed.

| I was in the Amber Room a week ago. It was open and visitors streaming through. No photos or video still applies. |
