Hello, I'm planning to show my other half St Petersburg this November - he said he wanted snow, so I'll show him. I used to live in the City some 10 years back when I was on a year out as part of my degree course. During that time I was attacked badly. This put me off returning, seeking work out there when I finished my degree. Anyways, that's a different story. But I assume so much has changed I just wanted some advice on where's good to eat out, where's good to stay and what's fun to do in the evening (can sort out ballet, theatre and suchlike, was thinking more of clubs). I'm also hoping to take the krasnaya strelya (although this may not exist anymore??) train to Moscow for a few days.
Also, it being Peter's tricentennial, will it be a problem getting a room? I think it was over the summer. Many thanks again for any advice

| I got back from St. Petersburg a couple of weeks ago. I'm not much on clubs but I saw the Leningrad Dixieland Band at the jazz Philharmonic Hall. It was a terrific show in a terrific setting. Champagne and caviar and Dixieland music. I stayed in a nice flat that cost less than half the price of the cheapest hotel. The flat was arranged by Marina Prudnikova (prudn@yahoo.com). She is a most competent and knowledgeable guide and she can most definitely make various aspects of St. Pete (theater tickets, excursions to Pushkin, that kind of thing) easy and painless. |

Hi, Kukolka.
IT is a right time to travel to St.Pete now, the city is renovated after the anniversary celevration.
However it will be cold during november in the city, so prepare yourself and take much warm clothes.
For choosing the right places for eating out and clubbing please refer to the http://www.waytorussia.net/SaintPetersburg/Guide.html
You can stay in the private apartment in the city center, try the aptions at http://www.waytorussia.net/Services/Accommodation.html |
