|

Hi,
Apologies if someone has already raised this but I am a UK citizen travelling to Russia for a short period in October. I have a visa already sorted out but not my onward journey out of Russia (train from St. Pete to Helsinki). I was planning to book the train when I arrive.
Can I enter Russia if I no onward travel arranged?
Many Thanks

Nick,
If you already have the Visa, it doesn't matter about other arrangements. Just don't stay beyond the last date your visa is valid for.

Does that advice apply also to travel within Russia? My VISA is being arranged for travel to/from US/Moscow, but I'm planning to meet with other faculty in St. Petersburg and Ivanovo. Does the additional travel need to be included on the VISA? |

Jean,
Now it get's tricky! If you have a private or business visa, you can pretty much go anywhere. If you have a tourist visa then things get rapidly complicated. I would suggest you put those cities on the application form and explain that you are doing day trips there. At least you are covered. If you don't, then I suggest you avoid the militia as much as possible, UNLESS, your hotel or whatever has registered the Visa for the ENTIRE length of stay. This is the main problem with a tourist visa. Consulates or Embassies may/may not be picky about pre-booked accommodation for the entire lenght of stay.
I haven't gone back to Russia on a tourist visa since my first trip, so I have no idea whether they print the places you are going on it, as per the old 3 page paper visa.
