hello,
I am travelling from St. P to Ulan Ude and then down through Mongolia onto Pekin at the beginning of January 2006. I am thus far planning 5 days each in St. P and Moscow. I will stop in Ekineraberg (sp?... sorry) for a day... 5 days around Lake Baikal, 6 days excursion in UB and a few days in Bejing. I am taking Russian lessons and will hopefully be somewhat versed before I get there! ANY information you can give me regarding anything about this trip would be much appreciated... here are some thought provoking questions:
1) What should I certainly do or see?
2) What is Christmas like in St. P?
3) Ideas for New Years Eve in Moscow?
4) Nice bars/night clubs in St. P, Moscos, Irkutsk you can suggest? Nice = reasonable, good music, dancing, 25-35 yrs old crowd... basically a place that is vibrant
5) Theatre, opera, ballet suggestions?... I do want to see some
6) Classical music halls?
7) I would like to see a hockey game in Moscow to comapre with N. American hockey... suggestions?
8) What part of town(s) should I stay in specifically? I like younger and hipper parts of towns
Thank you very much for your time... anything at all is helpful, Jason. |

| Novosibirsk has the largest opera building in Russia... And one of the most beautiful railway stations. In case you'd care to get out of the train there. |

When do plan on being in Novosibirsk?
I just got tickets to the opera on Jan 6. I heard that most of the first weeks in January are sold out. |
