Hi -

I was wondering if anyone has recent personal experience with getting a Russian visa processed in the New York City office.

There were 9 business days before I left, so I went for the "6-day +" processing time (I sent in the paperwork myself yesterday via Fedex).

Subsequently I read in other visa service sites that the "6 day" processing can be 2 weeks and even 3 weeks !

Am I in trouble here ?

My impression of the consulate was very positive from the phone contact I had.

If you are doing this direct with the Russian consulate and they did not ask you for more money for one of the faster processing times you are ok.
I'm not sure I'd trust the mail, though, with such a short window. If possible you might want ot pick it up.

That's another thing - From what I read on the consulate's site, if you drop it off in person, you pick it up in person. If you mail it in, they mail it back (you provide the paid envelope).

Would they actually let me pick it up instead ? (it's just a few miles on the Lexington Ave subway).

Also -

Will they hang onto the application for six days (since that's what was paid for), or are they known to process faster if possible?
