I was reading some of the postings about obtaining Russian citizenship for a US citizen. I am in the same situation right now - looking for a way to get Russian citizenship without renouncing American one. If anyone has any further information on this (any loopholes in the current law, any special circumstances, any advice in general), please let me know... My parents brought me to the US when I was 14. My father still has Russian citizenship. It seems really sad that I cannot restore mine... without losing the US citizenship my parents worked so hard for.
Thanks for any help on the topic!

If a child was brought to US or any other country and parents kept their Russian citizenship there shouldn't be any problem when getting a Russian passport for the child, especially if the family left legally and permanently, that is for ÏÌÆ. The child or the parents of a minor should ask for a passport in the embassy and they should privide it.
I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with my children, we got passports fast enough provided that we got registered at the local Consulate. If people are not registered, it takes longer, I believe.
I am not sure what would happen if parents had do denounce their Russian/Soviet citizenship, but I think that the idea was that they couldn't do it on behalf of the children, so the children should still be able to claim the citizenship and the passport. |

| Neither Russia nor America requires to renounce the other country's citizenship when you pledge allegiance to the other. It's implied in both constitutions that you have to renounce it but neither country demands it. |
