If you want to learn about Heathrow airport, do ths search on Google - you can find lots of details about the airport. Obviously, Heathrow is a huge ariport - the largest and busiest in Europe. Millions of people go through it every year and you can do that too. If you gate to St Petersburg is in a different terminal, then you'd have to take the shuttle bus to another terminal so allow extra time.

All that you can do in this case is run quickly towards the shuttle bus once you get off the plane. The signs are easy to follow. There's a lot of walking to be done and you may have to wait for the shuttle bus for 10-15 min. So, you don't have much time. I had a similar connection when I went to Prague and pretty much the same amount of time. I have to be honest - we barely made it to the plane. We ran to the shuttle bus, but then we waited for the shuttle bus for like 15 min. If you miss the connection, you will have to wait until the next flight departs which can be a while.

So, do your best and try to make it.

Generally, if it's not in the same terminal, it's better to have at least 2 hour window between connections at Heathrow, based on my experience.

I think you can transfer between 1 and 3 by foot:

So you might as well use that option to avoid waiting for the bus shuttle. Once you exit the plane, ask the employees at the terminal for directions.

You can go to Heathrow's web site and even call them (international calls are relatively cheap nowadays) and get answers to all of your questions. You won't find all of the answers on this site.

Yes, I used Expedia and Orbitz many many times to book demestic and international flights/hotels and had no problems whatsoever with both.

Call your airline(s) and confirm. For most connecting flights, you don't need to take your bags. If you get your bags in London, there's no way you can manage the transfer in 1h35 min

Again, call the airline/travel company and confirm.

You should check your bag all the way through to St Petersburg from your point of origin. This should not be a problem. Make sure the crew on your first flight knows about your quick turnaround in London, and they should be able to help you. You will not have time to browse the books, etc. but you should be able to make your connection.
