Two of us will be travelling the trans-siberian this summer. We want to spend 2 to 3 weeks in Mongolia (mainly south and central) early September. We plan to hire a jeep and driver etc but travel as cheaply as possible.
1. Does anyone want to join up with us? Our plans are quite flexible so we could fit in with other people relatively easily.
2. Does anyone have any helpful advice about good places to hire jeeps from and any pitfalls we should avoid?
3. Should we try and book in advance, or will it be fairly easy to sort out when we get there?

I will be in Mongolia from approx. Sept 1 to 9 (I am doing Vodka Train tour, starting Aug 21 in St.Petersburg and ending Sept 10 in Beijing)
What is your time frame for doing the trans-siberian railroad? Where do you plan to drive the jeep?
