hi there,
i am going to russia very soon. found on thewaytorussia one doesn't have to declare any goods of personal necessity i e laptop, camera, i-pod etc.
Fair enough but still would anybody recommend to do it just in order to avoid any uncertainties later on?? |

| Unless they are brand new and you're bringing a few of the same items, they might get suspicious that they are intended for commercial use. For personal effects they won't bother about it... just glide through the green channel... |

| What mediashark said is absolutely correct. However, depending on how long it takes you to get through passport control, you might have plenty of time to fill out the declarations while you wait for your luggage (assuming SVO2 arrrival). I have had enough time to get rubles from the ATM, fill out customs declarations (for items such as you describe), and still get frustrated while waiting for my luggage. I find having something to do while I wait and the peace of mind from knowing I won't have a problem when leaving worth the effort it takes. |

always go to GREEN...GREEN...GREEN.
good thing you are going to bring your pod, as the passport control line is always long, boring and freakin hot. and prepare for the line cutters.
have fun. and remember always go for the GREEN line. |

Hi, I am traveling to Russia on Oct 21, and wanted to bring a few bottles of wine from here in Cali to some friends in russia. Wondering if anyone knows what the allowance is (the consulate had no info, lol), and whether you can exceed this allowance by paying tax and what that tax is.
thanks in advance,
Alex |
