There is a difference between insult and disagreement. Not Relevant was fun because it was unmoderated thereby letting people say what they wanted. If you didn't like it you just didn't bother with it. |

The Not Relevant folder was removed because it really got out of hand (at least Dmitry thought so) and I felt it also deprived the Talk Lounge folder of interesting discussions (remember pre-Not Relevant Talk Lounge) because it was difficult for the number of active mods (at that time) to take care of every thread there. The result was a lot of locked or delete threads.
In an ideal world we would just ignore negative comments or don't read what we don't like. However people got hurt in there, and we have to act on complaints received via PM. (And we will also investigate if we receive a complaint of abuse of the PM system as well--advertising, threats, identity theft etc. Exchange arguments via PM at your own risk!)
Not Relevant started to become far more active than all other parts of the forum... I think that was cause for some serious unbalanced forum activity, and this was not what WTR was about. |

This is easy: I could not care less about what people said to each other in the Not Relevant folder. But even then, there turn out to be tpeople that take their insults a leap further, bringing them to 'real life' and harassing outsiders.
In the end, we received complaints about someone's girlfriend being harassed and we decided to close down the place.
If you have complaints about the dullness of the topics: you can either leave, complain that you grew old, or post something interesting yourself. It's really the people that make a forum |

It looks like one particular out-of-hand case resulting in closing the most active and the most popular thread on this forum. I would think that you should have dealt appropriately with that particular person hwo insulted someone's girlfriend. Event though, I cannot comprehend why anyone cares about anything written on a forum and can't just leave if they are so offended.
It's kind of Ironic that now the whole forum became Not Relevant after you closed the thread with that name.
It's up to you how you monitor or run this forum. I have not been here for weeks if not months, because there's not much going on. Apparently, others did the same. |

I really think that is not true.
This forum is about Russia travel. Yes, boring, but how are all the new threads on travel 'not relevant'?
The decision about Not Relevant was taken by Dmitry, not all of the mods were even aware of the real reasons behind that decision. |

| although my ex gf did receive a e-mail from a user of this site (and I do now know who it is and where they live) this wasn't the only reason for the removal of the NR thread. Complaints had been made previously and all of us who were posting on it were warned to tone down the negative dialogue on it. Personally any one of these threads can be interesting and entertaining and it is up to us users to make them so. it really doesn't matter that NR is or isn't still available. If you read it because you enjoyed all the ranting sorry those of us who were doing so are no longer ranting. BCBUD and I toned it down, Seriy hasn't been heard from. Xela tried to make a few negative remarks, Vitals left after taking some abuse from the mods and so who was left out of the most recent posters. Really it just all died out. But at least there are no more death threats...which is nice! |

I agree with this. It's not a great statement on someone's mental health, if they can't have a conversation without being mean to another, usually for no reason at all. And, to Nikir, I was simply asking Spice and yourself if that was how you carried on normal conversations. With insults and personal attacks? Rather a twisted way to get your jollies, I'd say. And don't get your knickers in a bunch, cause I'm not going back to the arguing and fighting. I'll leave before I'll do that again. I stop in here every few days, I don't always have anything to say, I do read every new thread, even the oh, so boring travel threads. Just because I don't post, doesn't mean I don't read what others have to say, and I still want to read about what Russia is like. I, for one am happy the way the site is right now. and when I come back every few days, there seem to be new posts, although a couple of them are just ridiculous. And, as stated, no death threats. |

It seems like you're happy with everything the way it is. Are you displaying your sensitive/feminine side? I think you can handle a real conversation where people can get opinionated and even mean once in a while. That makes it interesting. I guess someone who is fishing all day in the lake is used to the creatures that don't talk much and never talk back. |

Gaawd, I miss the old days! For what it is worth, please bring back the old "not relevant" or at the very least, loosen the yoke of moderator repression. 
People are free to ignore posts they don't like. People are free to ignore PMs they don't like. Internet "death threats" are laughable. If some dolt gave out enough information on a public forum that his girlfriend could be identified and e-mailed to, I'd say he got what he deserved.
Now, if I can just find out how to contact that moose that bcbud is rogering... |

A couple of precious flowers have sprung up here and the mods have taken to nurturing them with lots of organic fertiliser to ensure that they grow tall and beautiful. However a few weeds have appeared, popping there nasty heads out of the fertiliser and will soon start dropping seeds.

| surfguy why are you getting so worked up about all this? If the NR was here you don't have to look at it, just look at all the other threads like you do now. Some people want it back because apart from all the crap there was a lot of interesting stuff in there that gets filtered out now because of language or content. I think most of us are big kids in here and fairly discerning and should be able to play in an adult environment when we feel like it. C'mon man relax. |

| You can keep complaining that the forum is boring... but it is really all up to you guys to post interesting threads in Talk Lounge. Yes they will be moderated, but so are most major forums--nothing a grown-up would worry about. If you can take that energy in complaining about the lack of anything to talk about to Talk Lounge, I doubt you would be taking too long before extending this thread to page 15.... |
