Hi all,
I've been shopping around for two 2nd class tickets from Beijing to St Petersburg via Irkustk and Moscow, and of all the vendors Transsiberiana/Grint Hospitality (found through this site) seems the best.
Has anyone purchased tickets from them before? Any comments?
Cheers,
Hugh. |

I'm sorry I can't offer any specific advise re. Transsiberiana/Grint, but I can speak highly of ConnectRussia.net - I did tickets through them & was very pleased with communication & timeliness.
(updated years later - ConnectRussia sucks - stay away from them!)

Train N009 (Irkutsk - Moscow)
Departure on every even days
2nd class - 6602 rubles ($251)
The price is valid till the 10th of February, 2007
Train N001 (Vladivostok - Moscow)
Departure on every odd days
2nd class from Irkutsk 7592 rubles ($288.6)
The price is valid till the 11th of February, 2007
There are many other trains available (at least 3 every day). If you are in Irkutsk train N9 is the cheapest and easiest to book. More over the trip to Moscow by this train is 9 hours less if to compare with other trains (N903, 043, 351, 339). Actually the train 001 is as fast as 009.
People say here that it is impossible to book train tickets in RUssia. There is a chance in Irkutsk and if you know your date the ticket can be booked for any train to/from Irkutsk months before and with a 99.9% guarantee, but the exact ticket price will come out in a 45 days period for domestic trains and 10 days for trains from abroad (like 003, 019, ...). The train department booking fee is 170 rubles ($6.4). |

Hey!
Did it really work?? I would like to buy 3 train tickets but I'm afraid of this company because it might be a fraud. Did you get your tickets? Please tell me something!! Thank you! |

| Don't worry - they are not fraud. They are just a small company and they offer relatively competitive prices. I talked to the owner a couple of days ago. |
