| Hi, the crew television from Croatia coming to Moscow at the end of the April to film new show which is humorous itinerary charachter so we are looking for some interesting information about people, costums, tradition... that would be great to film. The Chatushka, Babushka and Russian Hip Hop text I found at this site is very interesting. Can we realy find that people at Izmailovska metro station on Saturday or Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m? So if you have some interesting story about Moscow I'll be happy to hear it... Tnx :) |

| If you want traditional, you should probably go to the country Russia. never heard of this Izmaylovski Park business, but it is quite possible. Not in April, though. |

The energy and creativity present in these characters makes me think of Russian "fool-ness" as indeed a form of art. My personal opinion is that the form of art they represent has vitality, originality, authenticity etc. of the sort and intensity often not found in conventional art. Perhaps that explains the popularity of this character?
The reading I can recommend on the subject:
Anything from N.S. Leskov. Nearly all his stories will have fools and main characters. Good English translations should be available.
