My boyfirnd and I are doing the trans-siberian from Vladivostok to St Petersburg this June. We are sorting out our accomodation now and the only two places we are having trouble with are Vladivostok and Khabarovsk - ie the first two.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good accomodation in either of these two cities? or any accomodation??!!

Also, while everyone seems to say buy your tickets when you get there, it will be cheaper, Id feel less stressed getting them in advance. Is buying them through a Russian travel agent, who charges more for them, the only way to really do this (other than a package tour through a foreign travel agent which is DEFINATELY not what I want to do!!) In other words, is there a more direct way to do it?

Thanks

In Vladivostok it depence on how much money you can spend(or waste).
If you have limit budget - hotel on home is not bad(About 400-600 for person). +7(4232) 44 26 50 Yumasheva street 14B, +7(4232) 514250 Bestuzeva street 15A ...... One hotel I have used and Im sure of it (small cheap hotel not far from rail station and central streets with a one bathroom on a floor and this hotel offer hotel on home too) I have to call to find out phone number again - if it is really neccessary ok no problem otherwise....
