We are planning a journey with the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian Express from Budapest to Beijing this summer. We will get a tourist invitation letter (visa support) from a girl in Yekaterinburg. She invited all of us to her house. We would also need another invitation letter from Irkutsk, as we are planning to spend nearly a week around Lake Baikal. Unfortunately it seems that all our connections (youth hostel, Pribajkalszkij National Park) are somehow lost, we do not get any answer, so we can not get a private invitation letter. How can we get then an invitation letter from Irkutsk? How does it work anyway? It is just a formal procedure, and there is no real invitation behind an "official" invitation letter? Thanks for Your answer, Kriszti

You would not be able to get two private invitations anyway, so don't try to do it, otherwise you will run into troubles when applying for your visa.

The best thing for you is to get a tourist visa and then you can travel where you want.

I believe it is also possible to do with a private visa that you're going to have, but then you might run into troubles with registration.
