Hi, Smile
I traveled to Russia last year using a business invitation and visa. I had trouble being properly registered for this visit.
Now, I have traveled to Russia again using a personal or private or homestay invitation and visa. I am properly registered until the middle of August.
I wish to stay in Russia.
Another homestay invitation is being created for me, now.
What is the best way to create the homestay visa for this second invitation without leaving Russia? without leaving Russia for only a very brief period of time?
As a United States citizen and with the second invitation already created, can the United States Embassy in Moscow help me create this second visa? How?
Thanks in advance for any posts! Wink

LLJ45,
The thing is you have to present your passport and the original invitation to a russian embassy/consulate if you are located overseas.

What to do about being inside?

Well, that's for Ovir or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to answer. Although Ovir may hand you over to the Ministry of the Interior! I'd be starting there as the rules and regs appear to change yearly. Oh, and take a packed lunched and plenty of patience unless the person who originally invited you has a special friend at either of the three places.

WHhy don't you just get a tourist visa until you can sort things out and let your host register it at a post office for you.
No hassle like OVIR for sure.

Hi, Tuller and UsualSuspect
Thanks for your ideas and suggestions!
A tourist visa is of little help to me since this visa is only good for 30 days. My stay in Russia is longer than several tourist visas.
I will be checking with the local OVIR for help to make another homestay or private visa while I am still in Russia.
My plan now is to travel to the Ukraine with the second homestay invitation to make the second visa.
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN KIEV?
WILL THIS EMBASSY BE HELPFUL TO ME IN MAKING THIS VISA?

Again, thanks for the posts on my questions! Smile
