Hi

I don't know if anyone can help : I am presently studying in Beijing and will be taking the Trans-Siberian in August. I am also planing on staying 2-3 weeks in Mongolia, but it seems I can only buy a ticket in Ulambatar the day before the train leaves.

Now, I was wondering if I could buy the ticket in China for the complete route (Beijing/Moscow) but only get on the train (no3) in Ulambatar without any problems?? Will they give my place to someone else if they see I did not get on the train in Beijing?? Will they, for shure, let me on the train in Mongolia??
Or is there others ways I can be shure to have a place from Ulambatar to Moscow on train no3 ???

Mat,

you can't buy a ticket Beijing-Moscow and then appear only in Ulaanbaatar - the ticket will be cancelled. You won't even get your money back as it is possible only within some hours after your train leaves from Beijing - and you won't be able to hand it in since you will be in Ulaanbaatar! Rolling Eyes

That's the general rule for all Russian trains - the plane-like system when you need a separate ticket for every leg. I bought my ticket through http://www.transib.net - they simply delivered it to me when I got to Ulaanbaatar.
