After an accident my visa is slightly water damaged around the edge. Everything is still readable but there are a couple of smallish purple marks. Do you think I need a new one?

Thanks,

Dan

The UK, but if I changed the visa it would be at a foreign consulate as I am travelling before I reach Russia.

You'll probably be OK if the info on the visa is readable. My passport went through the wash with a russian visa in it before my last trip and I was able to use it to get into Russia just fine. The visa was in very good shape though. Funny, the guy in the US on the way back told me that I should get a new passport. I did - thankfully before all the delays that are in the system now.

I guess there is no way to know for sure - if you call the Russian embassy and ask "hey, can i get in with a damaged visa" they're probably gonna say no. Perhaps you should show it to somebody? Or roll the dice. Mine had obvious water damage, but everything was still readable.

YMMV.
