This is true. I was trying to be more generic in my response.
I heard you hurt yourself, young Miss. I hope you are feeling better these days. I was in Cali, last month, it was nice. I missed all the excitement.
Speaking of cars, for my birthday, I bought myself new tires and mags for my sports car. What do you think? Are they cool?

British accents are very hard to understand unless it's the Queen's accent. Canadian English is the most useful..it's very plain and boring and easy to understand. |

Do you not see my point about learning English? You'd want to learn the purest form of it, wouldn't you? I really like a southern accent, but, other than in the south, it's not a useful form of English. |
You wish! How much dope have you been smoking?? British AND Canadian? Do you actually think that Canadian English is the same as British English? Canadian English is much closer to the English spoken in that large country south of your border than to that spoken on a small island a couple of thousand miles away. In fact the following language differences exemplify a lot about Canadians in general:
You know those round rubber thingies that go on the wheels of cars?
In the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, we buy them at a Tyre Centre.
In The US, they buy them at a Tire Center.
In Canada you buy them at a Tire Centre.
For god's sake, take a stand on which language you choose to use!

Likewise, we find Americans (and Canadians) hard to understand. You make a good point about the Queen's English (accent). There is in fact a very pompous name for it, the "Received Pronunciation". Very few Brits actually use it. In fact, there are many different British accents (some of which I can't understand). In Britain how you speak says a lot about where you are from, where you were educated (or not) and even your station in life. This is changing, of course, due to people moving around more (geographically and socially), television, immigration, etc. |

I have a good friend from Liverpool and when we start to chat we are both stopping each other and asking, "What did you say?"...lol...too funny. |

That's interesting, Crabman. I noticed this during my trip to London this summer. Some people I could understand perfectly, as their accent was crisp and clear. Others had a gutteral (sp?) sound, where they seemed to drop some syllables and sounds. It was very hard. I felt bad for my husband, who seemed to have a hard time understanding everyone! |

| Yes Crabman...is spot on. I haven't been to the UK but from the people whom I have come in contact with some are very difficult to understand. I used to rent a room out to a woman who was from Leeds and whoa did I have a tough time understanding her at times. And as far as canadians go...well...the difference that I see is they tend to say eh a lot. I like the Brittish and Aussie Accents and the Scottish accents too. I actually like the South African accent the best though...they are very pleasant to listen to |

I like a South African accent too, Surf. I had a college professor from Johannesburg, Ms. Nelson, and she talked with such a beautiful accent that you can spend your whole day listening to her lectures. |

I always thought he was more like a shot spot, or shit spot.
When he gets past L in his classes, we should take his advice, but not till then. His little brain may explode before he makes it to Z. Shame about his inbreeding.

Yes it is. They drive nice. Not as stiff in the corners as a ferrari. I have a red one as well, but the yellow one is my favourite. |

Idiot. Pronounce "Tyre center", and "Tire Center" Is there a difference? You moron, we were talking about spoken languages, not written. I already stated that a while ago. Now go crawl back under your rock, stupid little mutt, and quit your damned yipping. |

So, it is your position that Canadian pronunciation is the same as British pronunciation?? Interesting. Perhaps you should get out more. Talk to people.
Also, I'm not sure what your car has to do with this thread. I will mention (gently, as I'm not sure that you will handle this very well) ... a piece of plastic crap made by General Motors will never be confused with a Ferrari (or any "sports car", for that matter). I'll bet the moose can tell the difference. Talk to her. |
