helo to everyone,
I am an IB student and I am currently reading Anna Politkovskaya's Russian Diary. I finf it very interesting and intriguing to read about Russia today. I have great respect and admiration for Anna Politkovskaya.
I have some questions I'd like to ask though...

1) why did Putin never stop to send Russian troops to Chechnya if the Chechnyan government is already ruled by Putin's puppets? Why does he keep on sending militaries? Is there a specific reason or background for this?

2) Did you read the book? What did you think about it? What has particularly toched or amazed you? which aspects of contemporary Russia did Politkovskaya want to emphasise?

3) What do you think about all speculations about her murder?

4) Why do people vote for United Russia if online petitions such as the one onskaji.net in 2005 that demanded abolishing of law 122? Why do people seem to resign themselves if 56% requests emigration?

Thank you very much for answering, I am very curious to hear your thoughts and perspectives concerning the book and Putin's Russia, ID also want to know if anyone recently read the article about Putin in the economist...

It is very easy to throw shit on the government now. I have also read her articles. Nothing good.

Because there are still terrorist attacks, and there are still terrorist groups running around. Much less than in previous years but still enough.

Mix of truth, lie, guesswork. Targetted at western reader. I'm always have impression that he paid for it by western governments. You better read memoirs of various people about chechen war. http://artofwar.ru/e/english

No one knows why it happened, but everyone use this murder in order to gain some advantages.

Most likely because they want stability and do not want changes. Life better and better with every year. Maybe we want to preserve this way.

A simple example: 10 years ago in order to buy and register a car we spent entrie day, we waited in queue, we filled zillions of papers. Now: 40 min, few sign-ups.
