From what I can gather, I believe you will be denied a visa because the the diseases you have. Citizens from many countries need to present an "AIDS Clearance Certificate" (I needed one for India when I went there for 13 months). I guess the purpose of presenting the certificate is to try and prevent AIDS/HIV from entering Russia from foreigners (at least that's the reason the Indian Embassies give). Seems more or less the same principal.
Ask about it at the Russian Embassy in your country to be 100% sure.
Good luck!

That is correct. Currently, The USA and I believe Canada are the only 2 countries that allow free entry by people with infectious diseases. And I am not 100% sure on Canada.. I know the US does because it is a very heated issue in many circles...

Hi again ekezzar...
I asked an administrator at a hospital in Moscow (via email) about these dieseases/foreigners who contract them in Russia/their rights, etc...
His reply was: "Firstly you will not be able to get back into Russia. And if by a miracle you do get in than it is surely a first time. Human rights? ha! What is this? No one will care where you get the diseases anyway. No matter if you get them in Russia or in another country. How can you prove you get them in Russia? What do you want Russia to do about it?"

Maybe not the answer you wanted but I think it's a point blank and overly honest opinion. But to end all guessing, you had better contact the embassy...or have you done it already??

Best wishes!

Not to scare you away from Russia, but it's not like you'll be visiting anytime soon. "Human rights"? Who are you kidding? What human rights? I'll send you a check for $10,000 if you can explain to me why a sovereign nation should recognize this thing you called human rights (which, in no definition I could find, mentions anything about travel) at the risk of their own citizens and healthcare system? I don't mean to be rude, but you've already said "it's possible i caught it in russia anyway"... hmmm. As a counselor officer responsible for issuing visas, I'd have to look at that statement to mean that you've engaged in 'risky' behavior in Russia at least once. Do I really want you coming back and doing it again? Probably not.

You might want to try the Berlitz tapes if you want to learn Russian. It doesn't look as if you'll be visiting anytime soon.

exactly how do you think hiv is passed on? this kind of bigotry is exactly what is wrong with this 'civilisation'. if you think its possible i caught it by 'risky behaviour in russia' then maybe it's me who needs protection from 'risky' citizens and/or healthcare system. let me know when you get an education.

well, since you ask, I do know. do you?

you're the one that brought up the fact that "you caught it in Russia", leading one to the conclusion that you acquired hiv the same way that the overwhelmingly vast majority of people with hiv acquired it. could you have acquired it in some other fashion? sure, I suppose. please educate us.

my response wasn't intended as a form of bigotry related to your condition. it sucks. i'm sorry that you've got to deal with a life threatening illness.

my response was related to your apparent belief that the Russian consulate violated your "human rights". again, what human rights? why should Russia be obligated to permit entry to a person with the hiv infection?

you may well disagree with me but i believe that i have a right as a human being not to be stigmatised. that's all! i'm hardly going to go round biting people in an attempt to spread disease, and implying that i will spread it suggests that i would put others' lives at risks under any circumstances. as it happens i'm very careful to make sure i don't spread it, and i always inform anyone to whom it might be relevant - as i wish had been done for me!

And while you are in Russia, you could be hit by a car.. Your blood spatters all over a line of kids waiting on the corner, getting in their mouths, eyes, nose, etc...

The people that come to help you take precautions, but didn't see that bone sticking out of you leg, and it cuts through their glove as they are doing a routine check.

Sound insane?? Well, that exact thing happened to an HIV positive college student in Cincinnati, Ohio USA (he was here from Germany and came here with HIV). FYI, 2 of the kids showed HIV a few months later.. The EMT also tested positive months later.

I personally think the USA should ban all people from entry to this country who are HIV positive.. But, then, here in the USA, we enjoy paying the medical bills and finding cures for all sorts of good problems that come from other countries... Sorry if that sounds horrid of me, but it is a simple truth. We are not allowed in other countries if we have it, but heck yeah, send us all your people with these diseases..

No country owes you anything.. Just like they don't owe me anything.. Stop feeling entitled.... you are not. And you say you MAY have caught it in Russia anyways.. yes, that IS risky behavior.. in other words, guessing you either did drugs or had sex there, you apparently do these things everywhere with people you don't know about, otherwise, sorry to be so blunt, you would KNOW where you got it and from whom..

I hope you stay safe and take control.. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope your life is long. God bless you... but Russia doesn't have to...

Russia and Ukraine especially are at epidemic from HIV caused by improper sex education, Frequent sex tours, and drug use.
People who have HIV are considered second class citizens and they provide them with almost prison cell qualities. So why in hell would you want to stay?
Human Rights, hmm, Reporters are regularly killed for their stories. People had their homes stolen by bureaucrats. Oligarchs hae swindled billions of dollras while pensioners live in the streets. You want them to consider the human rights of a person who HIV from another country.
