Hi,

we're going to mongolia by train through russia and we stop in moscow one night and one day; I've read in your talk lounge and I had the unformal confirmation that we do not need to register our visa.
However, I'd like to take a piece of the russian law to show to the customs in case of arguing with police; but the problem is the law is very ambiguous about the visa registration and it's nowhere written that the registration is not needed when there is no residence (= from 3 days in one place). The law 115-FZ says:
Article 25. Relief of Foreign Citizens of Registration
2) foreign citizens who have entered the Russian Federation for a term of not more than three days

but we'll be crossing the country for 6 days...
Does the russian law state that the residence in russia is counted from 3 days at the place of stay?

Thank you very much for your help

Florence

The Russian authorites will know the law; you won't need to explain it to them. As I understand it, your train ticket serves as your registration. Keep it with your passport when you leave and you won't have any problems.

Yes the plane and train tickets prove we're saying only one night in Moscow.

Thank you
