I'm planning on the following trip in July.
July 3 - July 5: Moscow (Arrive Sunday Morning)
Take overnight train to St. Pettersburg
July 6 - July 10: St. Pettersburg
Take train to Novogord
July 11 - July 13: Novgorod
Take train back to Moscow
July 14 - July 16: Moscow (Fly home July 16)
Does this sound like a reasonable travel plan or should I be spending more time in Moscow? I've gotten mix reviews on Novgorod, I am interested in spending some time outside of the big cities to get some idea of what the rest of Russia is like.
Are the Hostel's in Moscow/St. Pettersburg worth staying in? Or am I better off trying to rent appartments (there will be 3 of us).
Sounds like you're going to spend most of your time packing and unpacking. Not my idea of fun. It's good though that you'll have a couple of uninterrupted days in St. Pete. It's a great place in the summer. Cheers.
