Bring lots of little things to give as gifts. Something that is related to your hometown or your area. For instance if you are from the Pacific Northwest you could bring native art pieces, carved bowls, bentwood boxes.
You will meet lots of people and be invited to their homes so you need to bring gifts and people will really appreciate something exotic and foreign. In the same way, Americans love those Russian nesting dolls.
Take along one of those packages of small Coffee Crisp chocolate bars.
If you like good coffee take a hand grinder, a supply of Colombian beans, and a French Press big enough to make more than one cup, in case you are treating friends. Russians tend to drink instant coffee including one kind that comes in a little 3-in-1 sachet with cream and sugar already mixed in. Just add water. |

| Don't take too many clothes and don't bother with toiletries and stuff. Just buy it all when you get there. You will have fun wandering through the markets hunting for it all, in fact, asking for help makes a great icebreaker for meeting girls. |

Be a bit careful with the amount of luggage you will bring with you. If you don't want to pay extra. If you are taking an internal flight in Russia to get to Saratov, you will see they use different rules for luggage weight.
While usually 20 kg + hand luggage is good on international airlines, they might live by the rule: 20 kg including hand luggage. |
