Only problem is getting from MAGADAN to ALASKA.. with our 1.0 Jeep..

We are doing this for charity in a 1.0 jeep we bought for £150 of e-bay. We have a lot of sponsorship and media interest. Initially we are doing the mongol rally.. www.mongolrally.co.uk

And then similar to Ewan McGregor up the Road of Bones, with no support team apart from friendly russians to Magadan... here we wish to get to Alaska by any means possible!! (with the jeep though)

Now, we will be leaving London Jully 22 2006. This means Magadan around late Sept, early Oct 06. I know there is an airline but they cease operation late Sep.

Does anyone know of any other way we can cross to Alaska.

Alaska is a part of Canada vitalsigns. North-western Canada.

Your question is difficult to answer as magadan is only really connected by air. The port at magadan could ship your jeep but it might take ages to reach alaska.

My guess is that ferries between russia and japan operate from Vladivostock/Vanino/Sakhalin so getting to japan is feasible - I know its feasible - just bad english. Getting from japan to the usa probably only doable in a 20' container BUT
1) there are loads of companies buying 2nd hand jap cars and experting them to the usa (possibility) or
2)there must be cruise ships doing the alaska trips which might call in at japan on their way somewhere.
USA to UK is okay - I think wallenius lines out of southampton to east coast possible.

There are no ferries from magadan to alaska - certainly not roro ferries. freight probably but you are trying to do something that's almost NOT been done before (with cars) bikers airfreight their motorcycles in and out of magadan airport - this happens BUT cars? Who knows. Alot of phoning and researching - but post the answers as i want to do the same kind of trip in the future
