Can anyone help me identify the locations(my questions are in parentheses) from the following description from an old travelogue of the Transsib Ussuri line from Vladivostok to Kharbarovsk? Current literature makes no mention of these names and/or specific km from Moscow.

The rocky coast is replaced by a rising altitude with dense woodland of predominately oak trees.(where is this?). Soon the tracks will veer westward into the Suifun Valley (at what point in km from Moscow do the tracks veer westward and where in the Suifun Valley?). As the roadbed descends again, it passes the Suifun Cliffs(At what km does the track begin to go uphill and at what km does the rise end?) Heading northwast, the train crosses a ridge over the Suputenka River and arrives at Nikolskoe(Where is the Suputenka River - not on my maps- and is Ussuriysk the current name for Nikolskoe?).

....The train now heads toward the two hundred thirty-one feet Ussuri River bridge(At what km is this bridge?). From here it will go north along the Ussuri Vallely toward Muraviov-Amursky(Where in km is Muraviov-Amursky?).

...First moving away from the Imam River and then crossing it, the Transib heads northeast. The land again becomes swampy until the train climbs up to the Zarubinsk mountain group on the right(At what point in km does the rise begin and where does in km does it end? Where are the Zarubinsk mountains?).

....After six more miles the train crosses the seventy foot iron bridge over the Lefu River and enters its valley(At what km is the Lefu River bridge?).

Thanks Smile

I have 1:200,000 primorski krai and khabarovski krai road / topographical maps and will take a look tonight - wait 24hours for reply. Stanfords, Covent Graden, London, UK will be able to supply maps for your research at a price. Otherwise, good large scale road / topographical maps can mostly only be acquired in Russia. I am sure there is also a website about the trans-sib railway which may have the information you are seeking http://www.transsib.ru/Eng/ there it is.

I can see that some of the names you mention are on pre revolution maps of primorski krai but scales on the internet too small to see exactly where.
