I am facing the same problem... Only font I've found to be somewhat similar to Russian hand writing style is Times New Roman Italic, but it is not the best... Have you tried to look at the master Russian?

You might find something here:

Bookman old style in italic works ok too. Again not brilliant but better than nothing.

Well it seems like everyone is looking for decent fonts. I was looking for handwritten fonts since it just looks nice and makes a letter a little bit more personal. I hope everyone sees this and helps them with learning or whatever!

I am doing some homework and I am having a problem, when some vowels (Russian) are not allowed after certain consonants is it because it is stressed or unstressed?

Despite vague problem description I suppose you mean "û" is not allowed after ø/æ? This is not connected with stress, but with 'soft'/'hard' consonants. ø/æ are 'hard', so despite vowel sound after them is heard as 'û', it is always spelled with 'è'.

This is what I mean't. Thanks for telling me this. Also, do you have to write what you hear, in other words if I was saying KOPOBA (2nd O has the [-] above it) that would be unstressed, right? Do you write what you hear even if the first O sounds like A? I am sorry to ask this but the Russian language is not easy to learn.

I hate the fact that my Language thread was moved to this font thread.

JoJo, I would strongly suggest that you check out:
http://masterrussian.net/mforum/

It is devoted to learning the Russian language. There is an interesting mixture of "students" and native Russian speakers; plenty of Russian speakers who will quickly answer your questions. Join the forum and see whether you like it. I bet you will.

"that would be unstressed" ? Unstressed are 1st and 3rd syllables, and that vowels are pronounced as ʌ and ə. It's vowel reduction.
Stressed 2nd is pronounced as O.

You will find that Russian language handwriting is very different from print letters. But once you spend some time you will get a hang of it. Much easier than katakana or hiragana if you are learning Japanese as well Rolling Eyes

LOL... my Russian teacher prefers writing on the whiteboard in Cyrillic handwriting style letters. We sure have a hard time keeping up with her as we try to write it down in our notpads using normal letters.
