Hello I live in Berlin and am planning on travelling from Uzbekistan through Kazahstan to Russia with the train to berlin. A lady told me on the phone the other day that if we want to arrive in Russia by trainfrom kazahstan we can only have a russian transit visa and not a tourist one. and that with that transit visa we arent allowed to get off the train. However I was wondering and hoping that this isnt true and that when we arrive from kazahstan by train that a tourist visa will be enough. Is this correct? has anyone done it before?
Thank you
fiona

The "phone lady" gave incorrect information. Absolutely - get a tourist visa, and make whatever stops you wish. To do this, you will need an invitation (visa support) letter. Wish you a great trip!
