| I am planning to travel from Oslo to Helsinki by car ... since I've been to Finland a couple of times I'd prefer to get down accross Karelia, in other words crossing the border in near Kirkenes, visiting Murmansk and then somehow make it down to the lakes and westwards to helsinki... anyone has done anything similar? how are the roads? let me know. |

| a friend of mine lived in the karelia region for a while. i could ask her for some information on the roads and their quality. though, as she lived in lappeenranta i don't think she ever went as far north as murmansk. |
