Hello-- I have an invitation letter for a single entry, 30-day business visa and not enough time before my trip begins to get a new letter and visa (the program I am participating in got the letter of invitation without consulting me about my other plans). I will be staying most of the time in Moscow, but I would like to take the train to Helsinki one weekend, then return to Moscow. I am staying at Moscow State University. Is it possible in any way for me to go to Finland, then return to Russia on a single entry visa? Would I have to get a whole new visa to be able to reenter Russia? Thanks.

| Jessica, unfortunately, you would need a completely new visa to re-enter Russia. However, it's not hard to get it in Helsinki, just make sure you get a new visa support (invitation) before you leave Russia. |

Thanks for the information. Is it possible to get a visa on a weekend? Would you recommend a tourist visa (since they seem quicker to get)? I would only be spending one additional week in Moscow before going home--do I just need some kind of paperwork showing that I am staying at the University? Thanks!

| Yes, tourist visa should be enough, its also easier to obtain. You cant get it on weekends |
