Hi there
We're going to be in Mongolia for 4 nights in November and were wondering if anyone had any suggestions or experiences to share regarding tours to the Mongolian countryside (Gobi, Khövsgöl Nuur, etc) from Ulaan Baatar.
Is it best to have something pre-booked, or negotiate and find something once we're there? We are worried that as we are there in the off season when it's very cold that many tours won't be running...
Many thanks,
Cheers. |

Yes please, it would be great to have answers to this question.
I will be there end of October and wish to go horse-riding for a few days, and was wondering if anyone could let me know if that will be possible.
Thanks in advance. |

| if you are only going to spend 4 nights in Mongolia, I don`t think you are going to make it to Gobi. (bear in mind that the roads in Mongolia are not as we are used to, which makes traveling to faraway places a long long trip.) This summer we were in Mongolia for 3 nights and we decided to go to Terelzh, which is a beautiful national park, about 100 km from UB. there are loads of ger camps over there (some of them a bit touristy though) and you can horseride, go rafting on the river, do some hiking, visit nomads on your way,... |

| There´s no much to see or do with only 4 nights in Mongolia since you won´t be able to go Gobi and UlaanBaatar has nothing special but its people. Terejl is near UlaanBaatar but has nothing special either if you compare it with any other national park in any other country in the world. I reconmend either to spend more days in Mongolia and find a tour to Gobi or Khovsgol lake or pass through and enjoy the views from the train |

Yeah, I really wanted to stop in Mongolia but I think you'd need a lot of time to see anything because there doesn't seem to be much to do in Ulaan Baatar city. I think either planning a week or more in Mongolia or just passing through are probably the best options, although maybe somebody knows something good to do within Ulaan Baatar?
Maybe you could find some interesting day trips, I don't know. Google "Mongolia Trekking" or "Mongolia tours" and see what you can find. |
