Hi guys,

I am an Australian citizen doing trans mongolian from West to East. I will end up in Beijing but do not plan to book further travel until i get there. Will this be a problem in getting the visa, ie do I need to present onward tickets upon application?

Anyone's help is very much appreciated

Chinese visa is the easiest one to get. The only problem is that once you get it you have only 30 to 45 days to get inside china and that it lasts 1 to 2 months (don't remember very well) but you need no registrations or book hotels in advantage. Once in China you can go wherever you want but Tibet that you need a permit that can only get in Beijing, Shanghai or Chengdu. Is that what you meant?

Does anybody know what the procedure for Russian people is to get a Chinese visa? do they need an invitation or can they just get the visa in the Chinese embassy, let`s say in Moscow, in exchange for some money, or can they buy it in Hongkong?? If they need an invitation, can a foreigner (with residencer permit in China) arrange that?

i know this has not really to do with the Transsib, sorry....
