Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend some cheap accommodation in Ekaterinburg. I'll be arriving around August 17th and staying for 2 nights.
Thanks!,

Not a lot of choices in Ekaterinburg. I stayed at the Hotel Iset on Prospekt Lenina the last week in July. A couple of the trams at the stop across the street from the railway station go directly past the hotel. There is some reconstruction work being done on the ground floor at the back of the hotel and new paving stones being installed in front. It is easy to miss the hotel entrance tucked in between the new liquor store in front of it and the open-air cafe beside it. These guys in Ekaterinburg http://www.ekaterinburg.tv/hotels1.htm seem to be the best source of info.
The only cheaper hotel that I know of is the Academy of Geology hotel.
While you are there, go for a stroll down Rozy Lyuksemburg street between Malysheva and the Atrium Palace Hotel on Belinskovo. And have a drink at the Old Dublin pun on Khokhryakova. Take a ride on a bus, only 6 rubles per person per ride, just climb on and pay the conductor after the bus starts rolling. Trams are the same price. Make sure to go into some of the larger shops. Visit Lenin on Prospekt Lenina near the town pond. The railing along the pond has some nice hammer and sicle photo opportuunities. Just hang out on the street, buy a beer or two and enjoy the last days of summer. |
