Does anyone know if I can text my friend in Moscow, from my mobile phone (Verizon) to her mobile phone?

And how would I do that?

I am able to call her mobile from my land line, using 011 7 495 then her 7 digit number.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

You shouldn't have any problems sending text messages to a Russian mobile. Instead of using 011, which is the United States' country code, use the plus sign first then the Russian country code.

So it would look something like this: +7 495 5558379 (whatever her number is.)

I have found it problematic (at best) to send sms from US (Sprint & Verizon) to Russia (Beeline & MegaFon). I have discovered a site http://www.ipipi.com that is very reliable and gives you a delivery confirmation. It is a pay service, but the fees aren't too high and it works really well.
